New book cover
Our Journey is the first book by Prathmesh Kamble. It made its way into the market in August 2020. Our Journey is a very simple, light, and dreamy book. I say dreamy because the story of the book is something most youngsters wish or dream of in their real life. And young writer Prathmesh made sure to express it in his book. Our Journey is a 174 pages sweet and simple book that would cost you around Rs.200. In the next part of the blog, I will explain why I call the book “light and simple”.

Plot Summary:

As I said earlier, it is a book on a story every youngster dreams or wishes of, it is a book about two college-going teenagers whose lives turn upside down as the story proceeds. The story begins with introducing the male protagonist Akshar Patil; his family, friends, and college, then enters our female lead Rashmi Karkhanis in the best filmy way possible. The first half of the book, Our Journey covers how the leads fall in love with each other with some very risky help from their friends and then the second half reveals how their love for each other is mature and not just a fling. Both the characters coming from different backgrounds still hold a lot in common and make sure to embrace that. The couple faces a lot of tragedies and obstacles in their journey. A story with love filled not only between the lead pair but with all the supporting roles makes one wish to have that. As we know, no journey is easy, theirs was too dramatic and tragic, OUR JOURNEY- OPULENCE OF LOVE covers all the tragedies and how they deal with them with their opulence of love.

My comments/views:

The author has written this book just to convey a story, a story about college-going students and it gets clear as you read it. The book is not much to break your head, it’s a simple story, a story about love, drama, tragedy, young blood and emotions, and relationships. It is easy to relate to if you are or were a college student from a city or a town. The twists and tragedies that came along brought my interest back when I thought that the book is getting monotonous and clichΓ©. There were some unrealistic parts and some mistakes from the author’s end in grammar, vocabulary, and lack of research but it shouldn’t bother you as the story is fiction, a book written and published by a 19-year-old. The best part about the book, Our Journey and writer Prathmesh Kamble is the fact that it speaks what it states ‘a Journey indeed filled with Opulence of Love’. The story doesn’t bore you because Prathmesh made sure to keep it brief, he avoided unnecessary descriptions and plots to keep the book and story intact and on one direct path. Overall I don’t regret reading the book, as it was simple and light. I read it at the end of my day before bed and it made me nostalgic about my college moments.

Recommendation:

As ‘Our Journey’ is about college-going youngsters and teenagers from Mumbai, it is not too much to take in. The story is very basic and simple to grasp. It is a book one can read while relaxing, you don’t need to put your whole brain into it, and you will absorb it as you proceed. It is a light book, as there are only about 170 pages; it won’t take much of your time nor would cost you any space or weight. I believe it wouldn’t cost a reader much to purchase this book either hardcopy or softcopy in the sense of money or time investment. Reading, purchasing, and promoting the works of such young budding talents surely gives them encouragement to do more and better.
